Kuwait City: An Asian Football Confederation delegation met with the Kuwait Football Association (KFA) on Sunday with the aim of developing futsal in the country after the lifting of its suspension by FIFA.
The team was briefed by Dr. Mishaal Al Rubaie, President of the KFA Normalisation Committee, during the two-day assessment visit.
“KFA is willing to work closely with the AFC Futsal & Beach Soccer Development Team towards the development of futsal in this country as it is one of the development aspects of football," said Al Rubaie.
Al Rubaie thanked the AFC for its assistance in creating a futsal development programme as KFA seeks to develop futsal.
Ali Targholizadeh, Head of AFC's Futsal & Beach Soccer Development, said among the purposes of the assessment visit was to analyse the futsal situation in Kuwait and assist the KFA in drafting a strategic development plan.
Speaking at the opening, he stressed on the importance of futsal as a developing tool for football.
"The AFC feels strongly that Kuwait has great potential," he said.
Also present were KFA's Futsal Committee Chairman Hussein S Habeeb, Committee Members, coaches, referees and media representatives.
